BitTorrent announced that the uTorrent Web has surpassed one million daily active users. The uTorrent Web beta version had been available for years and its first full release was just a month ago, on September 4. Its rapid increase is in the late stages of the beta through to the first full release.
µTorrent Web is a web-based client that allows users to download, share, and stream torrents right in their browser. It provides new ways to consume torrents online.
“With a simple download to play experience as the focal point of µTorrent Web, we see more users successfully downloading and playing torrents than with any other product in BitTorrent’s history,” the company said.
While there will be a long road for uTorrent Web to eclipse the 100+ million daily active users of uTorrent Desktop and mobile, this is still a notable achievement.
The uTorrent Web is currently only available for Windows. BitTorrent didn't share any plans about other operating systems supports. There would be some additional upgrades for uTorrent Web before the end of the year such as streaming files from a home computer to an Android device.
